Hollywood actresses and plastic surgery: the short answer
- Admitted in their own words: Megan Fox (breast implants, a nose job, Botox and filler), Jane Fonda (a facelift), Courteney Cox (fillers, later dissolved), Ariana Grande (lip filler and Botox until 2018), Jamie Lee Curtis (surgery, a little lipo and Botox), Victoria Beckham (breast implants), Jennifer Aniston (deviated septum surgery).
- Medical, not cosmetic: Angelina Jolie’s preventive double mastectomy and breast reconstruction in 2013.
- Says she has had nothing: Kate Winslet, who says she has never had Botox, filler or surgery.
- Many regret it: Fonda, Curtis, Cox and Beckham have all said they would not do it the same way again.
Hollywood actresses plastic surgery stories fill millions of searches every month, and most of what circulates is guesswork from red-carpet photos. This guide does something different: it lists only what the most famous American and British actresses and singers have said themselves, in interviews reported by major outlets, and it explains, with medical sources, what each procedure really involves, how long it lasts and what can go wrong.
We admire these women for their work, not their faces, so you will not find mockery here. You will find their biggest roles, the comments and bullying they faced, the rumours that really circulated and the facts behind them. If a procedure is only rumoured, we say so plainly; photos alone cannot prove that surgery took place.
Hollywood Actresses Plastic Surgery: Implants, Facelifts, Fillers and Nose Jobs
Megan Fox, Jane Fonda, Courteney Cox, Ariana Grande, Jamie Lee Curtis, Victoria Beckham and Jennifer Aniston have all described cosmetic or nasal procedures in their own words, while Kate Winslet says she has had none. The table sums up what each star confirmed; every line is sourced in her section below.

| Star | What she confirmed | What she said about it |
| Megan Fox | Breast implants (three sets), a nose job in her early 20s, Botox and filler | Denied a facelift, threads, liposuction and a BBL (2024) |
| Angelina Jolie | Preventive double mastectomy and breast reconstruction (2013) | A medical decision because of a BRCA1 gene change |
| Jane Fonda | A facelift | «Not proud» of it; stopped so she would not look distorted (2022) |
| Courteney Cox | Facial fillers over several years | Had them all dissolved (2017); says she looked «really strange» |
| Jamie Lee Curtis | Cosmetic surgery in her twenties, «a little lipo», «a little Botox» | Says it did not work and led to a painkiller addiction |
| Ariana Grande | «A ton» of lip filler and Botox | Stopped in 2018 because it felt «too much» (2023) |
| Jennifer Aniston | Surgery for a deviated septum (2007) | Denied other surgery: «Still mine. All of it.» |
| Victoria Beckham | Breast implants | Regrets them and the years she denied them (2017) |
| Kate Winslet | Nothing | Never had Botox or filler; surgery is against her morals |
Each section below gives the star’s own words first, then what the procedure means medically. Where a statement comes from a magazine interview, the outlet that reported it is cited at the end of the paragraph.
Megan Fox and Breast Implants: Why Implants Need Replacing and Their Risks
Of the stars in this guide, Megan Fox has described the most procedures herself. On the Call Her Daddy podcast in March 2024 she said she got breast implants at 21 or 22, had them redone after breastfeeding and had another set recently; that she had a nose job in her early 20s; and that she gets Botox and fillers. She denied a facelift, threads, liposuction and a Brazilian butt lift (Source: Entertainment Tonight).

The star of Transformers and Jennifer’s Body has also been honest about the feelings behind it. In her 2023 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit interview she said she has body dysmorphia and that there was never a point in her life when she loved her body (Source: ABC News).
Her story shows something every implant patient should know: breast implants are not lifetime devices. The FDA advises anyone who has them to expect more operations at some point, and the most common reasons are capsular contracture (scar tissue tightening around the implant), rupture and wanting a different size (Sources: FDA, FDA).
Her nose job is the most common facial operation people ask about. A rhinoplasty changes the size, bridge, tip or nostrils of the nose and can also correct breathing problems such as a deviated septum. Initial swelling settles within a few weeks, but the final contour can take up to a year to refine (Sources: ASPS, ASPS).
Angelina Jolie and Preventive Mastectomy: BRCA1 Risk and Breast Reconstruction
Yes, but for medical reasons, not cosmetic ones. In a New York Times essay in May 2013, Angelina Jolie revealed that she carries a «faulty» BRCA1 gene, that doctors had put her breast cancer risk at 87% and her ovarian cancer risk at 50%, and that she had a preventive double mastectomy with breast reconstruction, completed on 27 April 2013. Her mother died of cancer at 56 (Source: CBS News).
After the surgery she wrote that her breast cancer risk had dropped from 87% to under 5%. The Oscar winner, known for Girl, Interrupted, Maleficent and, more recently, Maria (2024), in which she plays Maria Callas, chose to go public to encourage other women at risk (Source: CBS News).
Her openness had a measurable effect, which researchers call the «Angelina Jolie effect». In US insurance data, BRCA testing rose from 16.0 to 20.7 tests per 100,000 women in the month after her essay, and risk-reducing mastectomies grew faster afterwards than before (Source: Liede et al., 2018).
Medically, a harmful BRCA1 or BRCA2 change raises a woman’s lifetime breast cancer risk to more than 60%, against about 13% in the general population, and her ovarian cancer risk to 39–58% with BRCA1. Preventive surgery lowers the risk a great deal but cannot remove every at-risk cell, so it does not make cancer impossible (Source: National Cancer Institute).
Breast reconstruction rebuilds the breast either with implants or with the patient’s own tissue (a flap). It can start at the time of the mastectomy or later, and it often takes several staged operations (Source: ASPS).

Jane Fonda and the Facelift: How Long Results Last, Recovery and Risks
Yes. Jane Fonda told Vogue in August 2022, at 84, that she had a facelift and is «not proud» of it, that she stopped because she did not want to look distorted, and she warned that cosmetic procedures can become addictive (Source: Fox News).
The two-time Oscar winner, the star of Klute, 9 to 5 and Grace and Frankie, has also spoken of how wealth buys access to anti-ageing help, and she still walks the biggest red carpets, including the opening night of Cannes in May 2026 (Source: Fox News).

A facelift (rhytidectomy) lifts sagging skin and tissue of the lower face, jowls and neck. Results usually last about 7 to 10 years, and you keep ageing afterwards; bruising and swelling last about 2 to 3 weeks, and the face can take 2 to 3 months to feel normal (Source: Cleveland Clinic).
The NHS adds that full results take 6 to 9 months to appear and lists nerve injury, uneven features, hair loss around the scars and thick scars among the risks. Bleeding, blood clots, infection and anaesthetic problems are possible too, and a second operation is sometimes needed (Sources: NHS, ASPS).
Fonda’s worry about looking «distorted» reflects a real limit: a facelift is a restorative operation, it cannot stop ageing, and it does not treat fine wrinkles, sun damage or uneven skin tone. For more on this, see how to tell if someone has had a facelift and our gallery of famous facelifts before and after (Source: Cleveland Clinic).
Courteney Cox and Dissolved Fillers: How Long Fillers Last and Their Risks
Courteney Cox had fillers for years and then had them all dissolved. In a 2017 NewBeauty interview she said she had had all her fillers dissolved and was «as natural as I can be», and in February 2022 she told The Sunday Times that she had not realised she was «looking really strange» with injections (Source: NBC New York).

The Friends and Scream star described how fillers built up gradually until one day her face did not look right, and how people talked about her before she decided to stop; at the time of that interview she was starring in the series Shining Vale (Source: NBC New York).
Her experience matches how fillers behave. Hyaluronic acid filler in the cheeks usually lasts about a year, calcium hydroxylapatite about 15 months and poly-L-lactic acid two years or more, and if filler shifts or looks lumpy a provider can often use another injection to dissolve it (Source: Cleveland Clinic).
Fillers are temporary, but they are not trivial. The most serious risk is an accidental injection into a blood vessel, which can cause tissue death, vision loss or stroke. The FDA advises buying fillers only through licensed providers, because counterfeit products are sold online (Source: FDA).

Jamie Lee Curtis: Eyelid Surgery, Liposuction and Painkiller Addiction Risks
Yes. Jamie Lee Curtis told Fast Company in 2023 that she «tried plastic surgery and it didn’t work» and that it got her addicted to the painkiller Vicodin; back in 2002 she told More she had had «a little lipo» and «a little Botox» (Source: Yahoo Life).
She has said the first step came in her twenties, after a cameraman commented on her eyes, and that it started a painkiller addiction of about ten years; she has now been sober for more than 20 years. Today the Halloween star and Oscar winner for Everything Everywhere All at Once warns that the trend of fillers and filters is «wiping out generations of beauty» (Source: Yahoo Life).
Surgery around the eyes is usually a blepharoplasty, which removes excess skin or fat from the eyelids. Most people take about 2 weeks off work, bruising can take several weeks to fade, and rare risks include double vision, a lower lid that turns outward and bleeding behind the eye (Source: NHS).
Liposuction, the other procedure she mentioned, removes stubborn fat to change body shape; it is not a weight-loss treatment. Patients wear compression garments for several weeks, avoid strenuous activity for 10 to 12 weeks, and swelling can take up to 6 months to settle (Source: NHS).

Ariana Grande and Lip Fillers: Approved Age, Cost and How Botox Works
Yes. In a Vogue «Beauty Secrets» video in September 2023, Ariana Grande said she had «a ton of lip filler over the years and Botox», that she stopped in 2018 because it felt «too much», and that beauty had become a way of hiding; she added that she might start again one day (Source: Entertainment Tonight).

The pop star, who played Glinda in Wicked, has also faced comments about her weight. In an April 2023 TikTok she said the body people called «healthy» belonged to the unhealthiest time of her life, and asked fans to be gentler about commenting on anyone’s body (Source: HOLA! USA).
In the US, hyaluronic acid fillers are approved for lip augmentation in adults aged 22 and over, and the average fee for lip augmentation with filler is $743 (approx. £560) (Sources: FDA, ASPS).
Before booking, read how long lip filler lasts and what swelling to expect.
Botox works by blocking the nerve signals to the injected muscle; results show in 3 to 4 days, are complete by about two weeks and last three to four months. Side effects are usually mild, but temporary drooping of an eyelid is possible (Source: Cleveland Clinic).
Jennifer Aniston and Septoplasty: Deviated Septum Surgery, Recovery and Risks
Jennifer Aniston says her nose operation was to fix a deviated septum. In February 2007 she told People that the surgery corrected her septum and that she «slept like a baby for the first time in years», and she dismissed talk of other surgery with «Still mine. All of it» (Source: UPI).
The Friends and The Morning Show star’s answer is medically plausible. Septoplasty straightens the wall between the nostrils to improve airflow; it takes 30 to 90 minutes, initial recovery takes one to two weeks, and on its own it does not change the outside shape of the nose. A surgeon can combine it with a rhinoplasty if the patient also wants a change in shape (Source: Cleveland Clinic).
Risks of septoplasty include bleeding, infection, a reduced sense of smell and, rarely, a hole in the septum (Source: Cleveland Clinic).
Our guide to rhinoplasty vs septoplasty explains the difference in detail.
Victoria Beckham and Breast Implants: Why Further Surgery Is Likely
Yes. In a letter to her 18-year-old self for British Vogue in January 2017, Victoria Beckham advised «don’t mess with your boobs», and called her years of denying the implants «stupid», a sign of insecurity (Source: Fox News).
The former Spice Girl, now a fashion designer, is one of many women who regret an early cosmetic choice. The FDA’s advice before any implant is to understand that complications and further surgery are likely over a lifetime, and to read the patient decision checklist with the surgeon (Source: FDA).
Kate Winslet and Ageing Without Surgery: Dermatologist Skin Care Advice
Kate Winslet says she has never had cosmetic work. In 2011 she said cosmetic surgery goes against her «morals» and «I will never give in»; asked by Harper’s Bazaar UK in 2015 whether she had tried injections or fillers, she answered with an emphatic no (Sources: CBS News, Entertainment Tonight).
Ten years later her answer is the same. In December 2025, at 50 and promoting Goodbye June, she told The Sunday Times that her face «hasn’t got anything in it» (Source: People).

The Titanic star, Oscar winner for The Reader and lead of Mare of Easttown and Lee, was body-shamed by the press in her early twenties. On 60 Minutes in December 2024 she called it «absolutely appalling» and recalled telling one reporter: «I hope this haunts you» (Source: The Daily Beast).
Dermatologists’ advice for ageing well without procedures is simple: daily broad-spectrum sunscreen of SPF 30 or higher, no smoking, no tanning beds, gentle cleansing and a daily moisturiser (Source: AAD).
Pamela Anderson, Madonna and Nicole Kidman: Implants, Facial Fullness and Botox
We have covered these three stars in depth, so here is the short version of each story, with a link to the full guide.
Pamela Anderson: breast implants, implant removal, Botox and filler
Pamela Anderson has confirmed breast implants early in her Playboy career, their removal in 1999 and implants put back later, and in her 2023 memoir she called the first decision un-thought-through. In 2024 she told Allure she had tried Botox and filler but had stopped; read the full story in Pamela Anderson plastic surgery (Sources: TODAY, Allure).
Madonna: facial fullness, fillers and how camera lenses change a face
After online comments about her fuller face at the February 2023 Grammys, Madonna neither confirmed nor denied any procedure; she blamed long-lens close-ups and said she was «caught in the glare of ageism and misogyny». The rumours and her answer are in Madonna plastic surgery (Source: NBC New York).
Nicole Kidman and Botox: forehead movement returns after stopping
Nicole Kidman told a German magazine in 2011 that she had used Botox, did not like how her face looked afterwards and could move her forehead again after stopping. The rest of the rumours are fact-checked in Nicole Kidman plastic surgery (Source: Fox News).
Cosmetic Surgery Warnings From the Stars, and Facial Changes That Are Not Surgery
Most of the women in this guide admitted procedures only years later, and several did so to warn younger fans. Fonda called surgery addictive, Curtis said it «didn’t work», Cox said she looked strange, and Beckham regretted the years of denial; Aniston and Winslet, by contrast, have firmly denied cosmetic surgery (Sources: Fox News, Yahoo Life, NBC New York, Fox News).

Denials deserve the same respect as admissions. A changed face on the red carpet can come from age, weight change, makeup, lighting or a long camera lens, and without a statement from the star or a medical record, any claim of surgery stays a rumour.
Body Dysmorphic Disorder and Cosmetic Surgery Regret: Why Screening Matters
Pressure on appearance is one reason. Body dysmorphic disorder (BDD) is a mental health condition in which a person spends a lot of time worrying about flaws in their appearance that others often cannot see; it improves with treatment such as cognitive behavioural therapy (Source: NHS).
BDD is common among people seeking cosmetic surgery: a 2024 meta-analysis of 65 studies and 17,107 patients estimated its prevalence in plastic surgery patients at 18.6%, and the authors call for routine screening, because people with BDD may stay dissatisfied however well the operation goes (Source: Kaleeny & Janis, 2024).
Trends change too. In the 2024 ISAPS global survey, breast procedures fell by 14.1% while eyelid surgery became the most common aesthetic operation in the world, with more than 2.1 million procedures; botulinum toxin was the most common non-surgical treatment, with 7.8 million (Source: ISAPS).

How Much Do These Celebrity Procedures Cost?
In the US, average surgeon fees (before anaesthesia and facility costs) are $11,395 for a facelift, $4,875 for breast augmentation with implants, $435 per botulinum toxin treatment and $715 for a hyaluronic acid filler (Sources: ASPS, ASPS, ASPS, ASPS).

Choosing a Plastic Surgeon Safely: Fillers, Implants and Realistic Goals
- Bring a goal, not a face: surgery restores and refines; a facelift does not change your fundamental appearance (Source: Cleveland Clinic).
- Check the surgeon and the facility: the NHS advises checking the surgeon’s registration and asking how many complications they have had (Source: NHS).
- Get fillers only from licensed providers: counterfeit fillers are sold online (Source: FDA).
- Plan for the long term with implants: expect future surgery and regular checks (Source: FDA).
- Be honest about why: if worry about your looks takes up hours of your day, talk to a doctor about body dysmorphia first (Source: NHS).
