A thread face lift is a minimally invasive cosmetic procedure in which the doctor places fine threads under the skin to lift sagging tissue in the face and neck, including hyaluronic acid threads. It is used for mild to moderate sagging, with the aim of giving the face a firmer, fresher look without conventional surgery.

The procedure is usually done under local anesthesia. The threads are inserted through tiny punctures or with fine needles along set paths under the skin, then anchored to lift the tissue. With the hyaluronic acid technique, the thread may also add a little hydration and fullness to the skin. The doctor chooses the technique according to the condition of the face.

It usually takes half an hour to an hour, and most patients return to normal life within a few days, with mild bruising or swelling. The result becomes clear within weeks and usually lasts about a year or less, depending on the type of thread and the skin.

Frequently Asked Questions

What are the benefits of a thread face lift?

It may give a mild lift to facial features, usually without surgical incisions and with a short recovery. Some types of thread may also improve skin freshness.

Who is this procedure suitable for?

It suits people with mild to moderate sagging who prefer a non-surgical option. Severe sagging may not be corrected by threads alone, and the doctor decides suitability after an examination.

How do I prepare for the procedure?

Tell your doctor about your medications and any allergies, and avoid things that may increase bruising, such as some painkillers and supplements, if advised. Never stop a prescribed drug, including blood thinners, on your own.

How is the procedure performed?

The face is cleaned and numbed locally, then the threads are placed under the skin with fine needles or cannulas and anchored to lift the tissue. Large incisions are not usually needed.

What is recovery like?

Swelling, bruising or a feeling of tightness may appear in the first days and usually settles within days to two weeks. You may be advised to avoid strong massage, exaggerated facial movements and sleeping on your side for a period set by your doctor.

When do results appear and how long do they last?

The lift is usually visible right after the procedure and settles over a few weeks. The result generally lasts about a year or less, depending on the type of thread, age and skin quality.

What are the possible risks and complications?

Bruising, swelling, pain, asymmetry, lumps or visible threads under the skin may occur, and in few cases infection or thread migration. Choosing a qualified doctor lowers these risks but does not remove them.

Will there be scars?

Visible scars are usually not expected, since the entry points are small punctures that normally heal quickly.

How many days should I stay before traveling?

Travel is often possible after two or three days, once swelling has eased, though some cases need longer. Your treating doctor confirms the right time.

Can the procedure be repeated?

Yes, it can be repeated when the result fades. The doctor decides the right timing based on the state of the tissues and the type of thread.
