Pectoral implants are solid or semi-solid silicone implants, placed most often beneath the pectoralis major muscle, to add volume and definition to the chest. They are generally used to improve chest appearance in men whose muscles do not develop as desired with exercise, or to replace volume lost through a congenital difference, injury or earlier surgery.
It is usually performed under general anaesthesia. The surgeon makes a small incision in the armpit crease or another suitable site, creates a pocket beneath the muscle or, in some cases, above it, and places an implant chosen for the patient's body frame. The incision is closed in layers, and drains or a compression dressing may be used.
Surgery typically takes one to two hours. Pain, tightness and swelling are expected in the first weeks, and many patients return to desk work within seven to ten days, avoiding heavy lifting and chest exercises for a period the surgeon sets, often at least four to six weeks. The final result usually becomes clear after three to six months as tissues settle.
The final cost is set after a medical consultant reviews your case and photos.

They may give the chest more volume, clearer definition and better proportion with the rest of the body. They do not increase muscle strength or replace a healthy lifestyle.
Usually an adult man in good health with stable weight, an underdeveloped or uneven chest and realistic expectations, or someone with a congenital difference or injury-related loss. The surgeon decides suitability after examination.
Tests and a medical assessment are arranged, and smoking should be stopped for a period set by the doctor. Patients never stop prescribed medicines or start supplements on their own, and the doctor advises what to avoid.
A small incision is made, commonly in the armpit, a pocket is opened beneath or above the muscle, the implant is placed and the wound is closed. Implants may be custom-made from measurements or chosen from ready-made sizes.
Pain, swelling, tightness and difficulty lifting the arms are common. Rest, gentle arm movement and a compression dressing are advised, with strenuous activity avoided until the surgeon allows it.
The look improves gradually over a few months. The implants are designed to last for many years, but some patients need replacement, adjustment or removal later.
They include infection, collections of blood or fluid, implant movement, asymmetry, scar tissue forming around the implant, altered sensation and visible implant edges. Some require corrective surgery or implant removal, and anaesthetic complications and blood clots are rare but serious.
A small scar remains at the incision site, often in the armpit crease. It usually improves over time but does not disappear completely.
Patients are generally advised to wait about one to two weeks, but the treating doctor confirms the right timing according to healing.
Implants are chosen to look as natural as possible, but they are firmer than muscle and their edges may be felt. Temporary stiffness is common, and the chest may look slightly different when the muscle flexes. The surgeon explains this before surgery.
