Corner lip lift is a small cosmetic procedure that addresses downturned corners of the mouth, which can give the face a sad or tired expression. This may develop with ageing or be inherited. The aim is to raise the corners slightly for a brighter, more balanced expression without changing the rest of the face.
It is usually performed under local anaesthesia, sometimes with a mild sedative. The surgeon marks a small shape on the skin at each corner of the mouth, removes a thin wedge of skin, lifts the corner and closes the incision with fine stitches. The scar is placed, as far as possible, within the natural crease at the corner.
The procedure commonly takes thirty to sixty minutes. Mild swelling and bruising appear in the first days, stitches are removed after about a week, and most people resume normal activities within about a week. The scar matures gradually, and the final appearance usually settles after three to six months.
The final cost is set after a medical consultant reviews your case and photos.

It may soften a sad or tired look caused by downturned mouth corners and give a more relaxed expression. The amount of lift is modest and varies from person to person.
A good candidate has clearly downturned mouth corners, is in good health and has realistic expectations. It may be less suitable for people who tend to form thick scars, and the treating doctor decides after examination.
The surgeon examines the face and discusses the expected result. Stopping smoking beforehand helps healing, and medicines that increase bleeding may need to be avoided as directed. Never stop a prescribed medicine on your own; ask your doctor first.
It is usually done under local anaesthesia. The surgeon removes a small, carefully planned piece of skin at each mouth corner, lifts the corner and closes the incision with fine stitches.
Mild swelling, bruising and tightness when moving the mouth are common in the first days. Soft foods, avoiding wide mouth opening and gentle cleaning of the area are usually advised, and stitches are generally removed after about a week.
The shape becomes clearer once swelling goes down, and results usually settle within three to six months. They may last for years, although ageing can partly bring back the downward droop.
They include infection, bleeding, asymmetry between the corners, a widened or discoloured scar, temporary numbness and tightness in mouth movement. The corners may also relax slightly over time, and a touch-up may occasionally be needed.
Yes, a fine scar remains at each mouth corner. The surgeon places it in the natural crease as far as possible, but it may stay visible. It generally improves with time, and how noticeable it is depends on skin type and healing.
Because this is a minor procedure there is rarely a major restriction, but waiting a few days for swelling to ease is usually advised. The treating doctor confirms the right time for you.
Sometimes it is combined with procedures such as an upper lip lift or lip filler, depending on the surgeon's assessment. It is worth discussing the best sequence so the overall result looks harmonious.
